On 11th of March /Friday/, shortly before 8 p.m. due to rainfall during last few days in Sofia, the earth in the archeological complex „Western Gate of Serdica” collapsed just before the beginning of a project for constructive strengthen of "G. Washington" Srt., conservation and restoration of discovered archaeological remains.
Upon the collapse of the land masses, mixed with building materials of the foundations of old nonexistent buildings from the early XX century and pieces of pavement, no damage was inflicted on the visible uncovered archaeological structures of the complex. Under the land masses was burried part of the architectural complex containing fragments of columns, stone and brick surfaces.
On March 14th, 2016 (Monday), under the supervision of archaeologist will be taken action in clearing the collapsing earth and constructive strengthening of the damaged area.
