GRACE AND BEAUTY OF THE PAST

REGIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM - SOFIA opens a new temporary exhibition - "Grace and beauty of the past." This will happen on February 1, 2017 (Wednesday) at 18:00 in the Museum.

"Grace and beauty of the past" is an exhibition dedicated to sewed lace. This is a masterly performance of decoration, designed for parts of traditional clothing and household items. The oldest are from the late XIX, and the latest from the first decade of the XXI century.

All items in the temporary exhibition are united by the technique of working out. Lace are sewn using a needle and thread. Specific exhibits include: tation, pinafore, shirts, sleeves and headscarves, aprons, tablecloths, linens, jewelry, Christmas toys for Christmas tree and others.

Regarding the geographical scope of the exhibition can be seen items: Sofia city and Sofia, Kyustendil, Samokov, Ihtiman, Koprivshtitsa, Zlatitsa.

At the same time they are exposed lace work of the Armenian community in Sofia, as well as representatives of the two lacers communities - "SediankaTA" and "Workshop Sedianka."

With the temporary exhibition "Grace and beauty of the past," there will be plenty of other initiatives, and workshops for children and adults, demonstrations, Armenian evening, designer multimedia presentations and photo sessions, round table dedicated to sewed lace with international participation.

Partners of the exhibition are: The Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Regional Historical Museum – Kyustendil, Historical museums in Ihtiman and Samokov, the Directorate of the Museums - Koprivshtitsa National community center "Hristo Smirnenski - 1889" - Zlatitsa, the Armenian community in Sofia, lacers circles and designers from the National Art Academy.

"Grace and beauty of the past" can be visited until April 30, 2017
